Christy joined PsyCare in 2009. She graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1998, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and from West Virginia University in 2000, with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Christy gained the highest level of licensure in her field in 2004, and has spent her clinical career in a variety of fields to include inpatient psychiatric treatment services, at risk children and families, corrections, court-ordered domestic violence programming, and her private practice. She currently focuses on individual, family and couples, victim services, transitional phases for individuals with developmental disabilities, and provides gender affirming services to members of the LBGTQ+ community. She utilizes the help of her emotional support dog to provide services at our office one day a week. In the past she has served as an adjunct professor for West Virginia University Institute of Technology and was listed as a responding clinician within disaster response procedures for Alpha Natural Resources. She has provided training at local, state and national conferences, and has developed and provides training for first responders. She has participated in court proceedings as an expert witness and as a case consultant. She also provides first responder support and evaluation for departments within our area. In her spare time she maintains a small rural farm and is a certified firefighter proudly serving with her local volunteer fire department.
